Will future cars come to us from Apple or Google, or will traditional manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, Ford and Toyota remain the most common brands? Either way, cars are more and more transforming into moving computers. While most vehiles still have internal combustion engines, even that is on the way out.
These computers on wheels are outfitted with, among other things, drive by wire, vehicle tracking systems, wifi, infotainment systems, satellite navigation and electronic security systems. In order for these smart functions to work, the car needs to be connected to the internet and send data to the manufacturer.
