Organisations in the technology sector exist only by the grace of complex and often computer controlled machinery. Part of this is 'intellectual property', also known as 'IP'. This IP constitutes part of these organisations' crown jewels: it will have received a large amount of investment and the future of the organisation depends on it.
How best to protect this IP? In a database on the internal network? Who has access to that network and how difficult is it to acquire access, whether physically or through malware? The National Dutch Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), in its Cyber Security Image Netherlands 2015, warns of cyber crime and digital espionage and considers it the greatest threat in the field of cyber security.
